About the JobAs a Meat Cutter Specialist at Whole Foods Market - Downtown Miami, you will be responsible for performing duties relating to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products. This role requires ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.Key Responsibilities

• Cuts and Prepares Meat: Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry) while ensuring that they meet WFM quality standards.
• Prepares Specialty Meat: Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats) to meet customer demands.
• Checks Product Quality: Checks product to ensure it meets WFM quality standards, including freshness and safety.
• Maintains Sampling Program: Maintains a sampling program to ensure that customers can sample products before purchasing.
• Prevents Spoilage: Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage by ensuring that products are stored and displayed properly.
• Mentors and Supports: Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s) to ensure that they receive the necessary training and guidance.
• Provides Excellent Customer Service: Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and models suggestive selling techniques.
• Maximizes Sales Potential: Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.Requirements
  • 14+ Months Retail Experience: Requires 14+ months retail experience, with a strong understanding of Meat team processes and procedures.
  • Excellent Cutting Skills: Excellent cutting skills with the ability to bread product down into sub-primal and retail cuts.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to Lift 50 Pounds: Ability to lift 50 pounds, with the physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the store.Working ConditionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, with exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures of up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
