During his watch the 3rd Engineer assists the Engineer Watch
Officer (EWO) by locally monitoring the safe and efficient
operation of all propulsion and auxiliary systems inside the engine
room and keeps him informed. He assists Staff Chief Engineer and/or
2nd Engineer with the maintenance and repair of engine room
machinery and equipment.
If the 3rd Engineer is assigned to Hotel maintenance, he assists
the Hotel Maintenance Manager with the daily maintenance and repair
of Hotel equipment and with refurbishment projects.
